You've probably been led to believe that positive affirmations and goals and intention setting is what's going to manifest anything that you want into your life, and it's simply not the case.
Jemaine Finlay:Is the latter you're about to climb, leaning on the right wall, or are you chasing someone else's idea of happiness? Success without fulfillment is the most painful failure. Our hearts are vibrating at the same frequency as Earth's magnetic field, so if we're coupled to the big field, then that information is distributed globally and a number of experiments are now showing that. Hello you, beautiful people, welcome back to it's, your Wellness, and welcome to 2024, a year that our hope brings growth, healing, happiness, love, play, rest and all the good things that you're calling in. I'm your joyful host, jermaine Finlay, and today, giving the nature of New Year vibes, I want to kick off a year of wellness with a thought-provoking episode, to illuminate the idea of you being a conscious creator in hopes, to inspire and empower and start for an aligned year ahead for your world. Now we all know that January is a time that has most of us contemplating what's ahead for the new year, voicing goals and aspirations and setting intentions for what you want to call in. So today I want to teach you how to materialize these hopes and dreams into reality.
Jemaine Finlay:In today's episode, I want to bring you the research to this concept of manifestation because, honestly, you're doing it moment by moment anyway, whether you're aware of it or not. Manifestation is a state of being constructed with mental attention and emotion. Sometimes what we create is aligned and empowering, but sometimes it's cycles of discomfort and dis-ease that we feel powerless to change. Now, I don't often like using the word manifestation because I think it repels a lot of people with this view of it being a little too airy-fairy, but there is actually a sound science to it. It involves human biology, physics, as well as the unexplained phenomena within nature and, viewed within the scientific community, that validates this magnetic potential that we all have. It's time to be intentional about what we're creating. I want to help you get out of your own way and give you a clear guide on the things that you need to bring attention to in your life, so that you have a clear path to alignment While we're going to intertwine both seen and unseen worlds of conscious creation. In today's conversation, a very certain factor of the matter is your anatomy is built as the creator. The structure and function of your brain is constantly filtering, deleting, distorting and creating your personal reality. Your biology, the chemicals that flood your body, influence your DNA and create the coherent or incoherent state between the heart and brain that determines your potential for healing and creation. These are processes very much grounded in science. Whether you turn to research on cardiology, endocrinology, meditation, immunology, neuroscience, even physics and environmental sciences, it's there and we're going to dabble in a little bit of it today.
Jemaine Finlay:I think there's a lot of people out there who are talking about the how-to of manifestation, but very few people actually create awareness on why this whole idea of manifestation just isn't moving the needle forward for most people. You've probably been led to believe that positive affirmations and goals and intention setting is what's going to manifest anything that you want into your life, and it's simply not the case, which you'll soon learn. Sadly, a lot of people spend the majority of their time waiting, not creating, living in lack, living in emptiness, living in fear, waiting for something outside of them to change how they feel within, waiting for the relationship, the job, the money to feel loved, fulfilled or successful. Now, that's a Newtonian model of reality, of cause and effect. When you let your senses define your reality, it's a view that says I'm not going to give thanks until my lover, my clients, my money shows up and I'm not going to be in joy until my abundance is finally in my bank account. In general, we've all been somewhat conditioned into believing that we need a reason for joy, for gratitude, for feeling abundant or even loved, and it's that very 3D, physical reality that's holding most people back from ever actually achieving those very things, despite their deepest desires and mental intention.
Jemaine Finlay:Now you're probably here at nearly every coach in the personal development space talking about this thing of reprogramming the subconscious mind and digging up the past to remove your limiting belief systems so that you can truly heal, align to healthy relationships or achieve happiness, which is exactly what I am not telling you to do today. Yes, your upbringing and stack life experience until this point absolutely influence why you do what you do and what you create, but today and this year, I want you to become aware of your state of being in the present moment, so that you can create from a place of choice instead of what life has conditioned you to be. My hope is that over the next hour, I can inspire you with a new understanding of reality and your potential and provide some action, steps to truly align to a beautiful year ahead. So if 2024 looks like better health, aligned relationships, more abundance, new levels of peak performance, getting unstuck and finding fulfillment, leaning into fear and taking courageous action on something that you've been putting off, or ending cycles of pain and frustration and creating a personality that aligns with your desired personal reality, then stick around, my friend. You won't want to miss any minute of this episode. I'm going to take this, step by step, through some of the key aspects of my magnetic life. Some of it's science supported, some of it experiential, some of it relating to quantum laws, all of it undoubtedly playing a pivotal role in becoming a creator, yet much of it unspoken of when we talk about this thing called manifestation. So let's start with some reflection. I want you to take this moment now and be truly honest with yourself.
Jemaine Finlay:Looking back on last year's vision for 2023, did you have the same, if not very similar, goals and intentions for 2024 than you did in 2023? Perhaps you wanted a relationship, maybe you got it in 2023, but they ended up being the same as every other person you've attracted in the past. Maybe you wished for greater abundance, a better job, to quit smoking or cut down on drinking, maybe even lose weight. Maybe some of you are sitting within a conflict right now because the meter hasn't moved. Or maybe you got the money lost, the weight, got the job, but it didn't feel like you'd thought. You're still filled with this not-enoughness, or you still feel like you're stagnating or not where you should be. Maybe it didn't bring you the happiness that you thought or get rid of the shame and self-criticism as you'd hoped.
Jemaine Finlay:I want you to think for a moment what intentions you're setting for the new year. Before I even take you on this journey to understanding how you can create it, I want you to check in. Is the latter you're about to climb, leaning on the right wall? In other words, are you clear on why you want this for your life, or are you chasing someone else's idea of happiness? I want you to get clear on this right from the start, because I've been there. I've been sucked into the funnel of building a business, with coaches telling me that we need to aim for a 10K month and a six-figure year, and it was exhausting, unfulfilling and, in hindsight, it was so out of alignment for what I truly value in my life and the lifestyle that I wanted to lead Even worse.
Jemaine Finlay:I see so many people following this linear progression of life Go to university or get the successful job, meet the partner, get married, get the mortgage, the kids and wait for retirement, and they're miserable. They chase the promotion for the money, for the family, not recognizing that they no longer have time for their family. They restrict so many elements of their life to create the perfect body, without realizing their obsession has only served a deeper self-loathe that causes them to sense themselves in relationships and fall short of their deeper desire, which was always to simply feel loved and accepted. So what do you truly want? If it's money, why do you want the money? What does it mean to you? More time at home with the family, freedom, more time to take care of your health? Why do you want the marriage? Is it to truly celebrate your love or is it solving your insecurities? Why do you want the business?
Jemaine Finlay:What will said thing that you desire make you feel? And if you spend some time with that, does it truly align with what feels good for you? Because here's the thing success without fulfillment is the most painful failure, and the late Robin Williams story epitomizes this achieving everything externally, but battling internal turmoil. My turning point was realizing that, while I was busy working towards my goals, I lacked productivity and fulfillment, and I was busying myself into burnout, isolation and depression. Aligning my energy with purpose transformed the way I invested my time. You will not be in receivership, no matter how deeply you desire, if you're not in alignment. So let me share with you what I manifested in 2023, because I actually think it's a perfect backbone to illustrate the power of alignment and, more importantly, heartfelt emotion in conscious creation and where I'm going to take this whole conversation today. We will get to the science, but before the juicy stuff, my story will tie us into some key ingredients for living in alignment, and I also want to spend some time illuminating the very elements that may be pulling the handbrake on your efforts to truly achieve what you aspire to receive. So we'll start off with a bit of context first. Then I'll tell you what materialized from it.
Jemaine Finlay:In October 22, after living on the East Coast for a year, my partner and I planned for a month off work to start our journey driving around the top of Australia to come back to the West Coast. The prior year I had started to wind down my business, I was very selective with how many clients I'd take on as I was navigating, if the organic evolution of my business was truly where I wanted it to grow. In 2015, I had started working at a natural fertility clinic to complement my studies as a naturopath and then, naturally, by the time I made it to my clinical pracc several years later, I had become known for my expertise in women's health, and so the onset of my business flourished with organic referral and word of mouth. Business was growing, I was becoming more well known in the industry and I'd even been invited to guest speak and guest on several podcasts, and I really did love what I did.
Jemaine Finlay:But there was something missing. I had all of this knowledge and passion in fields of mind, body, medicine that a business of supplements and blood test investigations just didn't feel congruent with. I felt that the modality of naturopathy here in Australia was shifting towards green allopathy in its fight for registration, still prescribing appeal for an ill, albeit natural. It just didn't feel like I was empowering people as much as I was led to believe. My heart was screaming to teach people that they are the medicine my soul wanted to spend time learning and teaching human behaviour, spiritual foundations of energy, medicine, neuroscience, quantum biology and other elements that were beyond the breadth of what I was practicing.
Jemaine Finlay:My issue, though, was time. My business as a naturopath required me to stay on top of the research in the physical constructs of health from pharmacology and pathology, microbiology, nutrition, exercise. On top of that was obviously the many hats of owning a business and staying up to date with how to run and market a functioning business. I didn't feel that I had the time to explore what was on my heart. My passion for women's health started to dwindle because it started to become a feeling of something that I had to do, more so than something that I was being guided to do. So, when my partner and I moved over East at the start of 2022, it was an opportunity for me to reflect and re-navigate.
Jemaine Finlay:Long story short, with this decision, over the year, business got quieter. I showed up less on social media because I wasn't clear on who my business was serving. I spent the last of my money on business development to get clarity, but the business models of coaching online felt icky and really didn't align with my values. So, with time, money went backwards and by the time, october rolled around and we set off to come home to WA, the prospect of 2023 was looking pretty bleak. I was setting off for a month on the road, spending every last dollar I had, with no prospects of what or when any work or business would come in. But hey, it was a clean slate, starting from the ground up Well, sub zero, to be honest, because zip pay was maxed after pay was maxed and I even owed my partner for a small investment that I made that fell through. What I wasn't aware of at the time was that, amidst the business courses and the inner conflict of not having time to pursue my desires, a moment of inspiration had me write down some things that I wanted to achieve in the new year. And here they were To earn $100,000 that year, because it's what I calculated would help me live comfortably, to have the time and space to creatively create.
Jemaine Finlay:There was a podcast I've been talking about for two years that sat dormant. I wanted to explore deeper modalities within energy medicine. I wanted to write a book all dormant aspirations that were intentions without action. I wanted to be a public speaker. I wanted to help people in a way that wasn't only attainable for those who could afford coaching or programs. I wanted what I knew about healing, self-awareness, human behavior and consciousness to be accessible for everyone. I didn't know what that looked like. I wanted to give freely, but clearly I also needed to survive. I didn't know how or how long it would take me to figure it out. I had no plan. I just knew what I wanted and to have it felt palpable.
Jemaine Finlay:So here I was, arriving back in WA as 2022 came to an end. My partner was waiting for work to come in and I was still kind of floundering around with no idea of what to do next. So the last week of December, I saw this job posted for an eight and six raw staff, facilitating a wellness program to promote mental, physical and spiritual well-being on a mind site. Well, that was an ad that I'd never expected to see for mining. So, with no idea what the job actually was, I applied and by mid January I was up in the Pilbara. Now, this is the magic of reflection.
Jemaine Finlay:I got to June of last year, 2023, and I was offered a lead role with a slightly higher pay at another location. Before I turned it down, I workshopped it with my partner. He asked what do you want to achieve? Is it going to offer you career growth? Yes. Would you earn more money? Yes. But my response was I do not want to grow in mining. I also don't care about money. I currently have a job that I love, with a culture of people who I feel energized to be around. I earn enough to live comfortably and I have the time and space to create, while also having the freedom to travel with the man that I love. What I have right now ticks all of the boxes for what I want, and I don't really want to chase the next thing. So obviously I turned the job down Before the end of the financial year. I had gotten a far better pay rise at my current job anyway. It felt like a reward for staying true to myself when shiny objects were on display, and here's what I manifested in 2023. I wanted to earn $100,000 within the year Check. I wanted the time and the space to create but still feel financially supported.
Jemaine Finlay:Well, I'm in a job where I work less than six months of the year, every second week. I have a clear schedule to spend traveling and being with the people who I love. I do a split shift roster when I'm at work, so I have a window each day where I can work on my own creative projects. I launched a podcast in November and I'm finally writing my book. I think it's safe to say that, too, is a check. I wanted to impact lives and since launching my podcast, I am constantly getting an influx of messages from people sharing how this podcast has found them in a time where they truly needed it. The job I freaking love. It would be more of a bonus. I get to share all aspects of emotional awareness that I love in a space where I don't have to sell or compete with other coaches. I can reach people in need and share from a place of genuine care. And then, as for the public speaking, well, not only do I have my own podcast. I present to a group of between 70 to 100 people on health and wellness every fortnight, and, outside of my job, I've secured a handful of keynote speeches taking me right through to September 2024.
Jemaine Finlay:Everything that I had written down I received. Now, I didn't see it when I was in it. It was only when I stopped and appreciated the position that I was in. That hindsight gifted me the realization that I had everything that I had asked for and that was created at sub zero For what feels like a lifetime. I thought my career was my purpose. I thought the impact that I made in the world had to be through my business, and I wrestled with this push-pull relationship, with glimpses of achievements and a constant cycle of striving my way to burnout and defeat.
Jemaine Finlay:Something I deeply believe in is that every person has a purpose. It's our journey in this life to discover and live out that purpose with passion. And while it sounds at a surface level that I found mine through career, I want to tell you there is this huge misconception that purpose seems to be to do with the roles that we play out in our life, and it's simply not the case. In today's fast-paced world, there's this disconnection from self, a continuous pursuit of external stimuli leading us away from our inner world, and at some point I'd miss the chaos. I'm pretty sure all of us have felt like something is missing. This, I believe, is where us, as society, seem to have got this thing about purpose or wrong. Purpose isn't found in the external milestones or achievement that we've been chasing to feel enough. It's internal. It's defying fears, embracing your true self and discovering what truly excites you. That uncovers your purpose. So, rather than setting a New Year's resolution to change yourself this year, make your resolution to be yourself. If every individual could take personal responsibility to become more conscious and intentional with how they want to live and lead their life, the world would be a better place. Conscious humans inspire others on their journey to become alive and live in a better way. Your purpose is to live and express your most conscious and intentional life in a way that is authentic for you.
Jemaine Finlay:Finding our passion generates tremendous energy within the body. Yet maintaining momentum requires consistent decisions that resonate with this passionate state, and that involves first getting clear on what you value in life. The challenge with passion is society emphasizes finding that one career or thing that defines what passion is, but that approach needs to shift. Passion isn't external. It's an internal energy that drives excitement and enthusiasm in what you do, and it's the first key to positive manifesting. I think passion is purely energy. It's an exhilaration and a zest that you experience when you engage in something that awakens your spirit. So reflect on the moments where you felt incredibly passionate. What was happening in that moment? See, passion isn't something that's acquired. It's who you become in those moments. For instance, I feel deeply energized when I engage in creative projects, or I'm outside in nature with people who I love, or I'm public speaking, or I'm facilitating group fitness and coaching, being inspired by new learning. All of these moments illustrate that passion is an internal energy, not an external pursuit.
Jemaine Finlay:I'm not passionate about achieving a relationship or being in a relationship or because my partner is my passion. I'm passionate in my specific relationship due to the energy and inspiration I feel when we're together. I'm passionate because we share the same values around love and life and travel and the environment, personal agency and manifestation. I could leave that relationship and still be able to love and feel loved, still travel, still care for the environment and so forth. Understanding this helps me know that my happiness isn't dependent on others. It's intrinsic. Now I also feel the energy of passion standing true to things that I'm passionately against.
Jemaine Finlay:So, as an example of this, I saw a post the other day on social media from a very influential podcaster who I deeply admire, and it read your boundaries aren't making you lose friends or family members. Your boundaries are making you lose gaslighters, emotional abusers and needy and greedy manipulators. Now I do appreciate that different perceptions will read the post differently. My partner had even read it in a positive and empowering light. However, for me personally, I strongly value personal responsibility and life and I am passionate about playing a part in raising a level of consciousness in humanity to see beyond the segregation that society imposes on us. I also believe very passionately that hurt people hurt people and healed people heal people. I got so passionate that I took the time to personally contact this person because I was shocked that someone with such an influential status would post something that, in my eyes, feeds separation in society.
Jemaine Finlay:I believe we all grow, mature and awaken at different levels and need different lessons at different stages of life to facilitate that growth, and it's essential. Just because we outgrow someone doesn't make them a bad person. They just no longer aligned, your values changed and if you become aware of that and on about, you walk away and you continue to grow. But the whole personal development space right now seems to be placing so much ego into what we label awakening and I think posts like this discredit any personal awareness. It can facilitate that victim mindset rather than improving collective consciousness that promotes oneness and unity and acceptance for all.
Jemaine Finlay:That doesn't mean that you accept hurtful behavior within your life. It means that you accept that they too are a human navigating this experience and very likely their negative behavior If that is an element of why you're walking away from a relationship is just a projection of that individual's pain. No, it's not okay for them to project that pain onto others, and that's where personal responsibility calls for individuals to remove themselves from harmful, misaligned or disempowering situations. But it doesn't give us the right to judge your shame and other person's journey. Has anyone ever felt inspired to be kind or be better after a personal attack on their character? No, what happens is conflict feeds in a conflict that further creates pain that projects in society. Every person, at the deepest level, is driven by a desire for love and acceptance. Some people have just been conditioned to seek that in disempowering ways, and that is their journey, not ours to judge.
Jemaine Finlay:I'm also deeply passionate about standing up against plastic use. I take a keep cup everywhere I go and if, for any reason, I don't have it, I won't get a coffee. When I travel to countries like Indonesia, I try to lead by example. I take my own smoothie cup for juices and I refuse to take plastic bags for food or shopping. And if we go somewhere like Seminyak, where the beach is heavily polluted while my partner does his morning run, I'll instead pick up the first plastic bag I see and start to walk along the beach and collect rubbish.
Jemaine Finlay:A purpose isn't confined to a specific job or role. It's about aligning life to our unique values and being guided by the energy that fills us with passion to be able to pursue those values. It defines who we are and the standards that we set for ourselves and our lives. It shapes our identity and our personality, ultimately shapes our personal reality. Now, when we're passionate about something we share an opinion or act in a way that inspires another, for example, picking up rubbish along the beaches in Bali. Whilst it's not my intention to be seen or acknowledged for the action, someone may have seen that action and been inspired to take action for their environment too, even if it seems uncool or like they'll be judged. Passion isn't outside. It resides within us. And when we start to live our authentic expression, a life aligned with our unique values, then there is no right or wrong, only your own truth. And when we live by this, the natural evolution is giving others permission to explore and express what's true for them too, and to highlight how authentic expression is the catalyst for positive manifestation.
Jemaine Finlay:I'll share with you a scenario that recently played out in my own life. Over the Christmas window, my partner and I had a big fight, to the extent that we needed some time apart. It gave me some time for reflection and introspection about what I want and need within our intimate relationship. Now, introspection illuminated particular trauma patterns that I hadn't yet worked through, recognizing that I have a tendency to abandon myself and my own needs just to keep the peace, to create a perception of safety and love and acceptance. But the energy that came from the pain of recognizing what I won't stand for anymore allowed me to express what felt true for me to no longer abandon myself, to keep the peace and to bring my voice to my hurts and my needs and my truth. The passion is what also allowed me to not only honor myself but to hold space for my partner too, and the outcome it allowed my partner and I to become more connected than ever. It drove deeper love and respect for one another For him to be able to be open to my feedback on communication and validation without taking it as an attack on his character, and to choose to be a safe space for me to share and be vulnerable, and for me to live completely uncensored and feel safe to share how I feel, unlocking another layer to what I had already thought was the most incredible relationship.
Jemaine Finlay:Remember, life unfolding is only concerned with the content of your intention. What you resist persists. So censoring yourself in any way to fit in or feel accepted or feel loved or avoid conflict and pain will always reflect back to you the very thing you're avoiding in some way. As kids, we're naturally connected to passion and purpose, but as we grow, societal norms and experiences seem to erode this innate connection. Society steers us to this predefined path, impacting beliefs about our own passion and greatness. The narrative changes, no, becomes more frequent, criticisms affect our self perception and societal standards start to shape our decisions, which often leaves to this sensation of emptiness or drive self-sabotage, despite meeting external milestones.
Jemaine Finlay:So what do I believe is the biggest handbrake for conscious creation? To start or commit to a big dream or maintain practices that they know will be beneficial for them and their future? I believe much of it traces back to this sense of unworthiness ingrained in us during childhood. Initially, as infants were enveloped in unconditional love, but then, as we start to test boundaries, this love appears to become more conditional Now, during the formative years. Roughly the first seven children interpret the world based on how the world makes them feel, unable to grasp its complexities. So witnessing parents' conflict or a divorce, or being raised by a single parent who is always having to work, might translate for that child into feelings of abandonment, rather than understanding the nuances of adult life.
Jemaine Finlay:Now this early belief system, often sent around feelings of unworthiness and abandonment or lack of love, tends to persist and solidify through life experiences. Moments like being laughed at during a speech, or heartbreaks in relationships or professional setbacks all seem to validate and reinforce this initial belief of not being good enough or lovable. As we mature and age to step into new endeavors, like maybe starting a business, this underlying fear rooted in the subconscious arises. It's a protective mechanism cautioning us, based on past experiences of ridicule or disappointment, as we inherently seek love and acceptance. Now, this fear of not being liked or letting people down holds us back from fully embracing new opportunities, which is wild if you consider that Newtonian reality that I spoke to earlier. We're waiting for the opportunity to help us feel a certain way, yet we're fearful of seizing the opportunities as they arise or we self-sabotage, procrastinate and get in our own way for seeing that opportunity through to its success. Now, this is especially heightened with the influence of social media.
Jemaine Finlay:The constant exposure to others' experiences and achievements can make us feel inadequate, like we should be further along or achieving more, increasing these perceived expectations, the self-doubt and this constant desire to mirror another person's standards, and it's like we have this overwhelming buffet of choices, making it difficult to focus on what truly matters for us. I even saw this myself in fields like business coaching. There's often a push towards predefined success metrics that might not align with every person's goals, creating this treadmill effect where we're chasing goals without pausing to consider if they truly resonate with our own desires and values in life. The pressure to always seek more, whether it's more financial gains, lifestyle improvements or personal accomplishments, draws our attention away from the present moment. It becomes a cycle of continuously planning for the future and missing out on the moments where we can appreciate the richness that we already have within our life and embody a resonance that attracts the ease and flow of the pursuit.
Jemaine Finlay:Finding alignment amidst these distractions requires us to take a deliberate pause. It's about reflecting on what truly holds significance to us personally. The journey is about crafting a life that feels fulfilling and authentic to you, even if it doesn't match the benchmarks set by others. And guess what? You may end up outgrowing and maybe even leaving behind those who have played a significant role in your life. As you follow your dreams and allow yourself to live free, and if you genuinely seek your highest potential and are willing to chase that long-held dream, prepare to face opposition. Moving forward in life involves upsetting some, living beyond their opinions or embracing change that others might fear attempting. Their discomfort doesn't have to influence your path. Embrace the difficulty of upsetting those people who you care about, because those truly meant to stand by you will and believe that you are worth that support.
Jemaine Finlay:So, before diving into this new year and chasing your goals, I want you to reflect on the first half of this episode. We don't want to run after things. That's exhausting. We want to be in a state of being that attracts all that we desire. Seeking a path of alignment and authentic expression are ingredients for flow and peace of mind and ultimate happiness. But if you want to successfully zone into particular desires for creation, then there are four key elements of manifestation that I believe are the game changes for a transformative life. The first is this concept of observation.
Jemaine Finlay:If you have been in my programs or followed my content for a while, you will notice that one common theme I consistently fall back on is my answer for how people can take control of their life, for how they can overcome self-sabotage and get themselves off autopilot and become a conscious creator for their life. That singular answer always comes back to becoming the observer. Without trying to fix anything, awareness proceeds change, and so what do I mean by observation? Many people go about their lives on autopilot, not realizing that their thoughts and emotions are actively shaping the very existence they're living. Mastering the art of becoming the observer involves becoming conscious of our thoughts, actions and the subtle nuances of our surrounds what people, circumstances, topics and surroundings leave you feeling expansive and energized and inspired, and which cause you to contract or self-doubt or evoke lower state emotions. Unseen behavior slips past consciousness, influenced instead by our surrounds. However, when we observe our thoughts, our emotions, our feelings and the subsequent physical response, things start to change.
Jemaine Finlay:If you're familiar with one of the most common queries in quantum physics, you may have already heard of the observer effect, although an incredibly confusing concept to get your head around when you're listening to some science guy, try and shed light on the phenomenon. It is in fact, a profound force that governs our life. This single quantum law operates in the background, shaping the very fabric of our reality, and plays a significant role in the patterns that we find ourselves intertwined with. To put it simply, this quantum law suggests that the act of observing changes the nature of what's being observed. Quantum physicists have taken physical matter and then they observe it under stronger and stronger microscopes and as they go, smaller and smaller and smaller. They can see atoms, then protons, then neutrons, then quarks, then electrons and eventually just waves. In other words, physical matter arises from non-physical wave energy. Now most of us learnt in school that an atom is a nucleus with electrons orbiting around it. Well, that Newtonian model can be disproved by the quantum model that shows us that electrons exist in an invisible cloud of energy around the nucleus. It's not actually a material form that's orbiting. Now, the observer effect shows that when an observer focuses attention on any location of that energy cloud, the electron will appear. If there is no observer, the electron returns to being non-physical energy that's spread across the whole energy cloud. The conclusion is that observation causes wave energy to condense and become matter. So could this prove that our focus thought can actually alter the material world, giving that electrons are the smallest entity of everything in this material world, including ourselves? Research from Neuroscience tells us that focus thought changes what we see within our own reality. But could we really have the power to alter their reality?
Jemaine Finlay:Think about a time where maybe you might have phoned in sick for work and you've put on the voice and played the whole charade and you actually ended up coming down with something after that. Or maybe you had lingering back pain. But when someone pops over unexpectedly for a coffee, you lose track of time and that back pain seems to disappear unnoticed. So what are you putting your attention on? What are you materializing into reality? I've said it before and I'll share it again, because understanding the brain is what empowered me to end painful cycles within my own life, get out of my own way and consciously choose to live a life of my own terms.
Jemaine Finlay:Our brains process a whopping 400 billion bits of information per second from the physiological and biochemical processes that is keeping your incredible body alive and repairing and renewing within every second, to the thoughts and memories that pull you back from past moments or anticipation of the future, to the sound of the clock ticking on the wall, the feeling of your shoes in the feet or the warmth of the phone in your hand. 400 billion bits of information per second. Now think about your own personal capacity for a moment and ask yourself in a single second, how many things can you consciously holding your attention at once? My guess is a hell of a lot less than 400 billion, right? The rest is flying under the radar, processed by the brain's automatic functions. So how does the brain determine what to bring into your conscious attention and what to delete from view?
Jemaine Finlay:Your attention, whatever you choose to energize, whether conscious or unconscious, is what's guiding your brain. So learning to direct your attention is the most powerful thing that you can do as a co-creator of your reality. Because, as you've learned from these quantum physics, where focus goes, energy flows and results show, to understand how attention actually dictates the version of reality that manifests, you need to understand how energy flows. Now remember back to episode one. I explained that life is just energy and intention. Every time you feel stuck in life, like you're working towards something that just doesn't happen, or similar situations keep coming up, the same relationships you attract. It's important to understand where the energy is getting stagnant, because when energy can't flow which is what needs to happen with energy and it becomes stagnant is when we become stagnant. We experience the same circumstances on repeat. So what directs the flow of energy? Our focus and attention determine where energy flows.
Jemaine Finlay:What most people don't know is that the nature of our attention is made up of two main types polar and non-polar attention. Like a battery, polar attention has the power to attract and repel reality. So any problem, when turned on its side, becomes a solution two different sides to the same coin. Polar attention attracts something while repelling something else. You can't have a room that's dark and light at the same time. Your choice determines whether you turn the light on or off. You can't be angry and at peace at the same time. Your attention draws to anger, you repel peace and vice versa. So that is polar attention. Then there's also this non-polar attention, which is completely neutral and has the power to dissolve aspects of reality. So non-polar is choosing not to flip the coin. In fact, it's not even noticing that there's a coin there at all. So no energy is directed to positive or negative.
Jemaine Finlay:Now it's often touted that thoughts create our reality. However, thoughts in and of themselves are empty vessels. They simply vie for your attention. You hold the power to energize them by saying yes or dismiss them with a no thank you. Thoughts direct the flow of your energy and your state reflects the resonance that you align your life to in that moment. Now, life doesn't care about the true nature of our attention. It cares about the content. So whether positive or negative is irrelevant in manifestation. The fact that it's holding your attention and energizing it is what matters, and this is the crux of the metaphor for us.
Jemaine Finlay:We have been conditioned throughout our lives to operate in fear and survival, because that's what's been our evolutionary biology. We've evolved to survive, first and foremost and what is most important and powerful way to survive Eliminating and avoiding any threat to our survival. So we've been conditioned to be hyper vigilant of the things that we want to try and avoid. We live in this mode of protection avoiding conflict, avoiding risk. Many of us have been shaped this way and because of this conditioning, we continue to experience more and more of what worries us. So think about what you see on the news or on social media and why there is more spread of fear throughout the world than anything else. This is how other influences can manipulate and influence us. There are so many proud people out there willing to go to war to protect something that they love and are very proud of it, and while this is admirable, it often makes them blind to see what's really going on. Because it's very easy to make someone carry out a desired action when they're angry. It's just as easy to make someone carry out specific actions when they're afraid. So fear, anger and pride are the states in which society keeps us trapped, keeping our attention focused on what makes us act in ways that we don't want to Consider that thoughts are the language of the brain and feelings are the language of the body.
Jemaine Finlay:So what you think and what you feel creates your state of being. When you have a thought or a memory, a biochemical reaction happens within the brain, causing it to release chemical signals throughout the body. These chemicals make your body feel the exact same way that you're thinking. So once you notice that you're feeling a particular way, you generate more thoughts equal to how you're feeling, and then you release more chemicals from your brain to make you feel the way you've been thinking. So I know that sounds like a bit of a riddle, but here's an example.
Jemaine Finlay:If you think an anxious thought, then you start to feel the fear. The moment you feel the fear, that emotion influence you to start thinking more fearful thoughts. Those thoughts trigger the release of even more chemicals in the brain and the body starts to make you continue to feel fear. So you get caught in this loop where your thinking creates feeling and your feeling creates thinking. So think about the power of thoughts for a moment. Your mind starts anticipating a future event that hasn't yet and may not even happen, and your body responds the heart rate picks up, you feel clammy, you might feel lightheaded, pale or even flushed. Your body is responding to a threat that doesn't exist because the mind has instructed it to. In other words, you have conditioned your body into a state of fear, and when being in fear, you're basically living in survival. When your brain is aroused and living in survival mode, you generally keep shifting your attention to things in the external world, like text messages, facebook, insta, your job, your husband, your TV, the news. The app of narrowing your focus and shifting your attention starts to compartmentalize your brain Effectively. You're training your brain to become a victim to the world around it.
Jemaine Finlay:Most people resist their past traumas and fears by unconsciously giving them negative attention. So think about how this happens. Whenever something unpleasant happens from the past, we try to run away from it because the feelings are so intense and we don't know how to deal with them. When we run away, we're actually resisting it, and what we resist persists. We spend our whole lives resisting all the things that have happened in our past that we don't like and we start living from a place of trauma. Not only does this ease materialize in the body, illustrated with anxiety, but, as a result of polar attention, situations that confirm this trauma keep reflecting back, repeating patterns and cycles throughout your life. For most people, they continue to experience the same relationships over and over again because they're holding on to past traumas. Unconsciously, their attention is so focused on avoiding the type of relationships they've had before, which is why they continue to attract the same type of relationship again and again.
Jemaine Finlay:Awareness is crucial before initiating any change, because when we're entrenched with stress, change becomes challenging because our view of reality starts to become limited. We're reacting rather than responding, and reacting implies that we are reacting past practice behaviors, while responding reflects our ability to consciously respond in a considered way. So what's the alternative? Polar attention being our coin, we can choose heads or tails to give an experience, our positive or negative attention. But, like the observer effect with quantum mechanics, when we choose not to give our attention at all, that non-polar attention, the potential dissolves Without our attention. It simply enters our lives and passes and has no power over us.
Jemaine Finlay:So why did I go into so much depth on this topic? Because there are three main steps to using this awareness, and if you follow it, all the energy that you devote to the negative attention in your life will start to dissipate, leaving you more energy to feed the positive version of reality that you want to create. So the first step is acceptance Control what you can and let go of what you can't. The only thing that you can change in any situation is your response, your perception and how you choose to let it affect you. You can't change in others' opinions or behaviors. You can't change the past. The only thing that is in your power to change is your state of being, and then you start to choose what you would like to do in the next moment.
Jemaine Finlay:Now the second step is to visualize how this setback or unfavorable event could potentially be a blessing in disguise. Any event that happens is a neutral event. It's only when we attach emotion that it becomes polar, and then we start to pick a side of the coin positive or negative. So we notice that there's heightened emotion in a situation. Instead of looking at it as bad, we can look at it as how can this be potential to be an advantage? How is this serving me? What is there that I can learn from it or appreciate from it?
Jemaine Finlay:And if you're in a state where the wound is fresh and something bad has only just happened, please don't expect yourself to look for a blessing in disguise just yet. Just reach a point of acceptance and understand that, yes, it really has happened and cannot be changed. But when you reach a more neutral state, you can then start to think about how this could have been potentially positive. We've closed the hindsight gap. Now the final step is to continually redirect our attention to what is desired. If you feel bad about yourself today, allow yourself to accept that you're feeling bad, honor your experience is valid. But then, once you're in a state of equanimity, focus on what you desire instead. If you try to hide, repress or suppress what you're feeling. It will follow you throughout the day and acceptance and gratitude is going to be the final piece. That wraps this episode up with a bow is what I've actually recently come to believe keeps the magic flowing in my world.
Jemaine Finlay:I left my partner on a cliff hanger when I had this mind blowing revelation the other day. I made in way until this episode was live for me to explain it. So here goes. I met my partner back in early 2013. And in 11 years of friendship and intimate relationship, we have never ceased to be amazed at how serendipitous life plays out when we're together, to the extent that when we say, something immaterializes. We have a feeling the very thing unfolds. We even pick up on each other's thoughts, even when there's a country between us. We, for years, have lived in a state of awe of how effortless our life has come together, and I've realized only recently is because we're constantly bathing in a soup of elevated emotions, constant gratitude and appreciation for one another and, in turn, for ourselves.
Jemaine Finlay:An elevated emotion is a vibrational frequency from your heart. Now, your heart is the center connection to all things and bridges the gap to the quantum field, the quantum reality being the contrast to that Newtonian view of reality I earlier spoke about, the moment you're feeling lack, desiring something you don't have, you tend to try harder and force control to try and predict or manipulate the outer world, doing everything you can because you're experiencing separation or polarity from what you want. But, in contrast, a heart centered emotion like gratitude lacks polarity. Gratitude is the ultimate state of receivership. If your body is in a state of giving gratitude, your body, as an unconscious mind, begins to believe it's already done. Now, like most medical and health professionals, I was taught that your brain is the master control center and all organs are responding to messages from this center.
Jemaine Finlay:Interestingly, research now shows us that there is more communication going from the heart to the brain than any other direction. The heart is a highly complex information processing centre with its own functional brain that communicates with and influences the cranial brain via the nervous system, hormonal systems and other pathways. Now, due to the heart brain, the heart can think, remember and learn independent of the brain. Now, I studied a few years back with the Heart Math Institute and I never actually realised until now how that very research could potentially be used to explain manifestation, until now, about eight years ago, I started looking into the works of leaders in the fields of cellular biology and quantum healing, including Bruce Lipton, greg Braden, deepak Chopra, professor Henry Benson and Dr Joe Dispenza, which started my deep fascination with the realms of metaphysics and quantum biology. Dr Joe Dispenza's work eventually led me to the study of the Heart Math Institute and eventually veered me away from schools of thought that I, like most other health professionals, were taught about disease, depression and pathophysiology using tools of exercise, nutrition supplements and medication, instead of recognising that we ourselves are the medicine.
Jemaine Finlay:Over the past several decades, there has been a growing database of scientific studies using brainwave EEGs, blood tests for stress, hormone and genetic biomarkers, heart rate variability and the positive effect that getting into heart and brain coherence can have on human health and happiness. And this is what we know to be true. When researchers put electrodes across the chest or the brain to measure brainwaves or the electrocardiogram, what is being measured is current flow. So when the heart beats, it generates electricity, and that's why it's called an electrocardiogram. Now, in basic physics, when we have a flow of electrical current, you create a magnetic field. This is physics 101 and that's why it's called electromagnetism. So take a mobile phone for an example how does the signal from my phone, my voice or the text message that I'm sending get from my phone to the phone tower, to another phone? It's not magic. We're using electromagnetic fields to carry the information. It's the magnetic component that carries the information through things. So I can be sitting inside right now and my phone still works.
Jemaine Finlay:So the magnetic field produced by the beating heart and our brain broadcasts our into the environment around us. In fact, the magnetic field produced by the heart is more than 100 times greater than the strength of the field generated by the brain, and it can be measured in all directions, up to 91 centimetres or three feet away from the body. And what researchers showed as far back as the 90s is that you can tell a person's emotional state by the information being carried on their heart's magnetic field. This is why you can feel someone's energy when they walk into a room. They have actually been able to measure the physiological systems responding to the fields of another person's heart. So if we're in a coherent state, that actually helps others that might be having a bad day find their balance. On the other hand, if we walk into a room and we're all pissed off and negative, we're radiating that information into the fields, which then can have a downer effect on others. So, again relating to relationship, what information are you sending out into the world? Because even if you don't use your words to offend someone, your magnetic field may be responsible for the energy that someone else is, in return, projecting back to you. Research even shows that you can put barriers between people and still see synchronization going on between their heart. But this is the part about magnetism that I've been excited to share with you.
Jemaine Finlay:Earth also has its magnetic field, the geomagnetic field, and this is where, if you've got a compass, the magnet will line up with. We have these magnetic field lines from the north and the south pole going around Earth and out into space for thousands of miles. When the solar wind comes by at a million miles an hour, the Earth is turning and the field lines start to get plucked and vibrating, quite literally like guitar strings. And one of the primary resonant frequencies produced by these field lines vibrating and resonating, is 0.1 hertz, which is the same frequency as the human heart rhythm when it's in a coherent state. Now, what that's demonstrating is a principle called resonant coupling, that you can couple and transfer energy and information between two vibrating systems that oscillate at the same frequency. So our hearts are vibrating at the same frequency as Earth's magnetic field. So if we're coupled to the big field, then that information is distributed globally, and a number of experiments are now showing that all of that information is in the global field.
Jemaine Finlay:And how we attune to the information that's relevant for us is through our attention on the people and things that we care about. So think of it this way you're probably listening to me on a mobile phone right now. How many of these magnetic waves are vibrating from all mobile phones that are being used around you in your neighborhood? The radio stations, tv stations, phone calls, etc. All of these magnetic waves are vibrating in space around us. Now, if you use your phone, how does it get the specific information that you're after to you? Well, you have to have an intention for your desire. You dial a specific number or tap into the frequency that matches, and as soon as you do that blah, you couple the energy and the information from all of the fields into your phone and you're having a conversation. We do this when we turn on the TV, or the radio is happening right now as you listen to this podcast. So you choose the frequency and you tap into the information through magnetic resonance.
Jemaine Finlay:So, in terms of manifestation, what we do to tune into the Earth's field is bring heart and brain into coherence by bringing the thoughts of what and who we care about into our heart space with feelings of love and acceptance. This is what research tells us. To achieve heart-brain coherence and bring our hearts into the magnetic frequency to match that of the Earth's magnetic core, we need to bring to our mind what we're passionate about and then draw the feeling of love, gratitude and acceptance into the heart space. Then, using breath, we can start to feel the heart expand on inhalation, so we can start to then imagine those heartfelt emotions expanding with the breath. Naturally, your breath will slow when you start to fall into this state and with practice we want to bring it to about a count of 10 seconds. So five seconds inhalation, five seconds exhalation, with no pause. Growing research continues to show us that communication between heart and brain creates the coherent state of being that improves health, resilience, performance and connection to the quantum field.
Jemaine Finlay:I truly believe that my life is magic because over time the highs and lows taught me to stop chasing and start being. My surrender to accepting all parts of myself and my life story creates a resonance of love and acceptance, inviting a shared partnership for which shared appreciation allows my state of being to become one of pure receivership. Manifestation is just a state of being. It really is that simple. You don't need to go out and start a meditation practice for an hour a day or journal or start your day with some complex wellness routine. But if you have the time, I do recommend all of the above.
Jemaine Finlay:But it is about coming back to consciousness, moment to moment, being the observer within your life, identifying what lights you up and what leaves you feeling depleted or contracted. With that awareness, you will start to become clear on your values. And when you begin living in alignment with your values, you begin creating an identity that aligns with passion and purpose. You naturally begin to raise your vibration when you feel fear or anger. Acknowledge the experience. This isn't about discrediting emotion. They all hold validity and help us grow into higher states of consciousness. Express that emotion, knowing that what you resist persists, but don't live in that state. Living authentically gives you permission to be vulnerable. So heal and feel and then accept, find equanimity and come back to the positive side of polarity.
Jemaine Finlay:Don't wish for an effortless life because growth doesn't accompany it. Strength, resilience, learning and development stem from facing challenges boldly and assuming responsibility for moving forward in alignment with your vision. Pay attention to your attention. The universe doesn't speak the language of words. Thoughts and words often prove unreliable as they rarely align with your true inner state To effectively communicate your desires to the universe. Understand the language of energy. Everything around you and within you is vibrating at a different rate or frequency. The frequency of vibration you are at in every second determines what you resonate or sync with out in your environment and your life.
Jemaine Finlay:It's not merely about chanting. I want to be abundant, because at that point you are resonating at a level of lack of scarcity, of non-having. Instead, you want to bring attention to all of the areas of your life where you're already abundant. Maybe you feel abundant when you drive your car that you own outright, or maybe the moment that you finally pay off the credit card or you buy your first house. Maybe you feel abundance of love when you come home to your family or dog, or you're grateful for the abundance of energy that you have within your day or the abundance of freedom that you have in your weekends, when you can pay gratitude to the areas of life where you already feel abundant. That feeling becomes your resonance and you become a match for the things in the outer world that reflect that same resonance.
Jemaine Finlay:The universe isn't listening to your thoughts. It reads your vibrational reactions. So any reaction you have is seen as a yes. Please give me more of that. So bring your thoughts to what feels good for you, with electric thoughts and magnetic feelings. Use the mind and the heart to feel as though you already possess what you're aiming to attract. Every potential reality exists in the quantum field, including the one that you seek. If you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand. By immersing yourself in the present moment and embodying the feeling of gratitude, you begin to synchronize our vibrational frequency with the universe's creative force.
Jemaine Finlay:Don't be scared to dream. Everything in life is born twice. Just like building a house, the vision comes before the actual building. Detailed plans are drawn up, ensuring every aspect aligns with the desired outcome, before the construction even begins. This process applies to every facet of life, not just material projects. Before a journey, there's a destination in mind. A plan often proceeds boarding a plane or setting off in the car. A speech is written before it's delivered and clothes are designed before they're made. This concept, beginning with a clear vision, is integral to your creation. Understanding the principle of two creations is essential for teaching the body to be defined by a vision of the future rather than confined by a memory of the past. Use the manifestation machinery that houses your consciousness. Get visual in the mind so it becomes palpable in the body. Embody your future self, because it's the same person. They're just showing up differently.
Jemaine Finlay:So, to wrap up this session today, consider this where in your life will you commit to turning up the notch right now? It could be discovering joy or abundance, or resilience, or laughter, or playfulness, or forgiveness or self-love, or taking responsibility for your health and your results. No circumstance, person, or place, can dull your light or deplete your positive energy unless you allow it. It comes to personal responsibility. You control the frequency at which you operate, so always choose love or above. And finally, to achieve heart-brain coherence, we need to be intentional.
Jemaine Finlay:We come back to the breath. So, while you're feeling alive and inspired right now, while we're on this journey together, let's finish in a beautiful, magnetic state together. If it's safe to do so. Close your eyes for a moment. unless, you're driving in the car. In which case, please just come back to this later. Become aware of your breath. Don't try to change it just yet. Just observe. Follow the breath as the heart opens and your chest expands. Continue with the breath and see if you can draw long enough for the belly to expand as the body softens from resistance. Bring your attention back to the sensation of your chest expanding and connect with your heart. How does it feel, knowing everything that you want is available in the quantum field, that you're connected to? Ask yourself in this moment. What do I truly desire? Now? Bring your attention to your heart with that image still in your mind With your next breath, feel the gratitude feeling, that expansive heart space, every inhalation embodying gratitude for the image in your mind, knowing that exists because you can already see it. Stay here and bask in this feeling for as long as you need and come back to it as often as you can.
